ABOUT THE PROJECT
Proposed Features & Amenities
The Vision
Create a space that connects residents, supports our youth,
and maintains Bennington's small-town charm
Fast Facts
-
50-acre park and athletic complex located in the heart of Bennington between 156th Street and Bennington Road
-
Intended to be used year-round and by all ages and abilities
-
Named for longtime Bennington residents, the Neumeyer family, who farmed the land and donated a portion to the city
Athletic
Fields
Seven full-size multipurpose fields can be flexibly arranged to accommodate multiple sports and levels of play.
Ample
Parking
Two large lots and four smaller off-street areas provide parking for nearly 800 vehicles.
Gathering
Spaces
Elevated above the floodway, this area could boast a playground, event lawn or splash pad - and possibly an indoor fieldhouse/rec center in the future.
Outdoor Recreation
Extensive walking trails and landscaping are woven throughout the complex.
This view from Bennington Road shows how the development will span southeast toward 156th Street. Shown here is the North Parking Lot and Field 1.
Berm seating along the Great Lawn will be an ideal place to take in games being played on the Championship (turf) Field.
A large hardscape pavilion will serve as a gathering space for farmers markets and other community events.
An extensive trail system will weave throughout the complex, connecting it to other parks and adjacent neighborhoods.
The elevated gathering space offers ample opportunities to create unique play areas, such as a proposed splash pad.
This view from Kempten Creek Drive looks north over the elevated gathering space.
